Individualized Care Following a Car Accident

Core Wellness Centre, 726 St Clair Ave W, York ON M6C 1B3

Symptoms following a collision may begin immediately or become noticeable later. An assessment can help identify your current symptoms, functional concerns and whether clinic care or another referral may be appropriate.

All new patients first meet with Clinic Director Dr. Kris Dorken, DC. He reviews your health history, the circumstances of the collision, your symptoms, available medical information and your goals.

Dr. Kris Dorken, DC, is registered as a chiropractor in Ontario and is a member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario.

If care from another clinic practitioner is appropriate, that practitioner will complete their own profession-specific assessment and consent process.

Services That May Be Considered

A care plan depends on your assessment findings, needs and insurer requirements. No service or technique is appropriate for every patient.

N

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care may include adjustments, joint mobilization, soft-tissue techniques, education and home movement recommendations when clinically appropriate.

Chiropractor Dr. Kris will explain the proposed approach, potential benefits, material risks and available alternatives before care begins.

N

Cold Laser Therapy (LLLT)

Low-Level Laser Therapy uses low-intensity lasers to deliver light energy to the body’s tissues to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes at the cellular level.

Cold laser therapy may be considered along side a broader care plan when appropriate for the assessed concern.

N

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression may be considered for selected patients with certain back or neck symptoms.

It is not appropriate for every injury or patient and should only be recommended after an assessment.

N

Physiotherapy

Our physiotherapists complete a separate assessment of symptoms, movement and functional concerns.

A physiotherapy plan may include education, personalized exercises to complete at home, manual therapy and selected modalities where appropriate.

N

Shockwave Therapy

A handheld device delivers low-energy acoustic waves that promotes rapid tissue repair and pain relief.

Shockwave therapy may be discussed for selected musculoskeletal concerns. Its suitability depends on the practitioner’s assessment, the stage of the concern and relevant health information.

N

Registered Massage Therapy

A registered massage therapist assesses muscle tension, discomfort, movement and patient preferences before recommending an approach.

Techniques are adjusted according to the patient’s comfort and response.
